You can't source protein from seaweed. But…
Global consumption of protein is on the rise. And current methods of protein production are accelerating greenhouse gas emissions, land and water scarcity, health concerns, and increasing pressure on existing food systems.
So Gaetan Zackrisson launched Nordic SeaFarm, to create a protein rich and sustainable alternative.
This seafarm operates in the oxygen and nutrient rich waters of Sweden. It grows ropes of protein rich seaweed that sequesters carbon and requires zero fertilizer or pesticides. This protein-rich food source can also free up agricultural land, and substituting just 10% of the human diet for seaweed protein would free up 110 million hectares of land - over double the landmass of France.
So, you can.

Companies are beginning to grow offshore seaweed for human consumption as a protein option that’s better for the environment. Growing seaweed on ropes in the ocean is less land-intensive, sequesters carbon, and doesn’t require fertilizer or pesticides.
