It's Time to Redefine Success in Business

An Anthem for a Better World

We share a dream. That one day all companies will compete not only to be the best in the world, but the best for the world. Others share this dream, and have started to turn this dream into a community. This community signed a Declaration of Interdependence, and invited others to join.

The Declaration of Interdependence

We envision a new sector of the economy, which harnesses the power of private enterprise to create public benefit. This sector is comprised of a new type of corporation - the B Corporation - which is purpose-driven, and creates benefit for all stakeholders, not just shareholders.

As members of this emerging sector, and as entrepreneurs and investors in B Corporations,

We hold these truths to be self evident:

  • That we must be the change we seek in the world.

  • That all business ought to be conducted as if people and place mattered.

  • That, through their products, practices, and profits, businesses should aspire to do no harm and benefit all.

To do so, this requires that we act with the understanding that we are each dependent upon another and thus responsible for each other and future generations.

Creating A Global Movement

Now more than 10,000 companies, from 150 industries, from 65 countries are turning this community into a global movement to redefine success in business.

These companies, and many others, use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.

  • Warby Parker: an eyeware company that disrupts an industry and serves the poor.

  • Revolution Foods: a food service company that serves over one million meals to low income public school students every week.

  • Cascade Engineering: a manufacturer that goes green, and helps workers move from welfare to a career.

  • BetterWorldBooks: an online book seller that recycles used books, and funds local libraries and global literacy.

  • Patagonia: an outdoor apparel company that stewards the environment.

  • Ben & Jerry's: an icecream company that maintains its mission post-sale.

B-Corp Certification

B-Corp is a certification that helps consumers identify these changemakers, and investors make money and make a difference.

As a community, we are passing laws across the country, creating a new kind of company that serves society and shareholders. We are leading a global movement of people using business as a force for good. Join us.
